Program Note
I wrote this work as a gift to my dear teacher Dr. Joseph Karl Doetsch, at the same time, it was the first work I composed under the guidance of Dr. Ivette Henrryman.
I started to get influenced by the “Impressionist composers.” I have always loved the way their music sounds and how they communicate with the listeners in (sometimes) simple ways. I was inspired by Eric Satie’s Gymnopedie, a piece Dr. Doetsch taught me while I was his student. I used a similar rhythmic pattern and worked with enharmonic to create different moods.
This work is a tribute not only to Dr. Doetsch but to my fascination with the great impressionist composers.
